*Awesome Event* Devils' Game Day Dream Camp

This is really something special. If the Devils were short on money, it's an excellent way to try and make some extra.

The Devils are holding "Game Day Camps."

The Men's Camp is on Friday February 24th.

The Girls' Camp is on Sunday Feb. 26th.

Ironically, I will be in Vancouver when the Devils play the Canucks during this event. The wife already said she would have let me go. I guess she figured, like me, that $300 would've been worth this experience.

Too bad I can't go, but if you can, for those of us that complain about promotions, eat this up.

Totally worth it

I am going to round up a few buddies and do it.

They should do the same for a High School camp … they would be swamped, I bet. That price is a steal, and almost guarantees a second club seat sale (who wouldn’t come to see their significant other on the main ice?). Hell – the stick, bag and jersey package could probably be over $200, plus practice and a game with alumni, plus club seat and parking? Amazing.

I hope the Devs used last year’s second half to generate some rapport with area high school teams. Plenty of empty seats for giveaways, bulk ticket deals, etc… and even some hope of a recovery.

The goodwill and relationships generated then would help promote a high school day now, as well as benefits long-term.

The Devils had a HS Day (during the week, either a Tues. Wed. or Thurs.) where they invited High School Captains & Assistants on the ice during an intermission.

I have respect for most sports fans with 2 exceptions: NY Ranger fans who grew up in New Jersey, and Dallas Cowboy fans who can't name the capital of Texas.

It is a steal and will be a lot of fun

Playing hockey at The Rock, getting an all inclusive seat at center ice, stick, jersey, etc.
I would not be surprised if they had to turn people away soon.

Maybe it’s just me, but can someone please provide a link to this event? The ticketmaster links in the fanpost don’t go anywhere.

I just chatted with a very helpful rep

Scott at NJD is going to send me a link with the information.

Yeah sorry about that. I tried to sign into ticketmaster, then sign out and provide the links, but I guess there is a cookie there that makes the link unique to your computer.

You can call them

The number is 973-757-6151 or (6160).

I am thinking of calling them and writing an nj.com post about it. If they call sell this out quickly, I think it is good positive news amongst a bunch of bad ownership news.

I hope they are providing for access to the practice shower rooms. Or else you’ll be stinking up the suite during the game.

I think I need to do this, so long as the other guys don’t mind my likely horrible skating ability (this friday I’m going to my first Ice hockey open skate)

by Marty 4 Prez on Jan 30, 2012 7:57 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Awesome

I will definitely say hello. I’m guessing that with 60 people, we’ll be broken up into 3 groups and rotate through the three zones/coaches. I started skating about 18 months ago and I absolutely love it. That said, you have to stick with it. It can be frustrating at times, but don’t take short cuts (bend those knees and don’t cheat the drills at clinics) and it will start to happen for you. The hockey community is great too.

I was told it is filling up fast

Guys won’t be able to decide at the last minute, it will fill up this week.
I need to hear back from 2 friends and then go with it.

I just got back into inline hockey about two months ago and I’m still shaking off a bit of the rust. I have found though that the guys at the open skate generally don’t care if you’re at a lower skill level and don’t give people grief for bad plays.

I’ve never played ice hockey before, so Friday is going to be quite the experience. I’ll be going with my brother-in-law, who plays ice hockey all the time, so I’m sure he’ll give me some pointers. I’ve seen other people play in league games who are shaky on skates, so at least I know I won’t be alone.

I’ve just gotta put the time and effort in, and this offer is a great opportunity to get some instruction in as well, which is great as I have never been coached before.

Went to my first open skate this past Friday night at Floyd Hall Arena. I wasn’t horrible though I wasn’t great either. Played defense as that’s my more natural position.

Most of the guys were playing at a speed well above me, so I tried my best to stay in it. I tried to be as aggressive as I could be while maintaining my balance and trying not to think about how to skate while the puck was in play.

My brother-in-law did keep telling me to bend my knees though…

Just got ticket - Should be a blast

Getting out 1980’s era Cooper leather goalie pads, glove, waffle. (Chico will remember them). Played against my 17 year old in a father son game and had a great time. Kids could not figure out how to beat a stand up goalie and WTF is a “two pad stack and kick save”

OFFICIAL: Men’s Camp has sold out. Still plenty of room for the girl’s camp.
