Will Sestito be Claimed?

Teams have until tomorrow at noon to claim him if they want him. Does anyone want him? Does anyone need him? Pittsburgh just lost Jordan Staal so they will have a gap at Center, but their system is deep enough that they won’t need to make a claim. Columbus lost Jeff Carter and based on the BJ’s position in the league, Sestito might be an improvement over some of their players. If Anaheim was willing to trade for Rod Pelley, is there a team out there that will take Tim Sestito for free?

Personally I think not.

I loled at the mention of Sestito’s name in the same universe as Jordan Staal and Jeff Carter.

He’s just not an NHL caliber player. I also think not.

I agree he belongs in the AHL, but he was called up to NJ because of injuries to Jacob Josefson and Travis Zajac. Depth players, even ones as deep down the list as Sestito, only get called up when there are significant injuries to a team, or a coach needs to shake things up because the team is in a slump. This applies to a handful of teams in the league and doubly to Columbus (who have injuries and really suck).

Circumstances sometimes dictate picking up a guy like Sestito, but he is just not an NHL player. Columbus almost certainly has someone as good as Sestito in their minor league system.

It’s only 2 games, but so far I like Zalewski more then Pelley or Sestito or Mills. Zalewski at least looks like he could score a goal sometime before the dawn of time.

A few weeks ago I listened to a Holik interview on 660 The Fan, and didn’t like some of the comments he had about the team. I don’t know, it wasn’t anything serious, but I just didn’t like it.
