Jon Merrill:
Here is an interesting article about the defensive struggles the University of Michigan is facing without Merrill and others coming in and out of the lineup. They face Northern Michigan, a huge rival this weekend and are still looking for their identity on the back end.
Blake Coleman:
Coleman finally found the scoresheet again this weekend with an assist in Miami's 5-2 win over Northern Michigan. He also got a penalty for diving in a 2-2 tie the next evening.
Curtis Gedig:
Gedig had a successful weekend back after missing two games with and injury and having last week off. He got his first point of the season - an assist on Ohio State's lone goal in a 1-1 tie against Alaska (Ohio won in the shootout). He received a penalty for high sticking in the same contest.
Check out the highlights from the game here.
In the CCHA, Miami took over the first spot in the ranks while University of Michigan and Ohio State hold eighth and ninth, respectively.

Blake Pietila:
Pietila and the Huskies were off last weekend. They are back in action tomorrow against Bimidji State.
Derek Rodwell:
Rodwell has yet to make much of an impact for UND. He hasn't gotten a point yet this season, but he also has not been a liability - he has only been on the ice for one goal against so far this season.
Seth Helgeson:
Helgeson had a quiet weekend against Alaska mustering two shots and a penalty for cross-checking. The Gophers got through the weekend with a win and a tie.
Joe Faust:
The Badgers had last weekend off. They face Seth Helgeson and the University of Minnesota this weekend.
In the WCHA, the University of Minnesota and North Dakota have the fifth and sixth ranks while Wisconsin hold eighth.
Totals:
Blake Pietila
Derek Rodwell
Seth Helgeson
Joe Faust
I was pleased to see Curtis Gedig get on the score sheet after two weeks off the ice - he is my standout this week. Hopefully he continues to produce while keeping up on defense.
