"I think we have the depth now up front with Bernier and Ponikarovsky and Henrique . . "
- Pete DeBoer as quoted by Gulitti.How much do you Bernier contributes to that third line so far? And is he destined for the 4th line when Zajac comes back or Albany?

Bernier clears space, much like Zubie does for other lines. I like what he’s doing and though he’s not gonna put up points regularly, he makes us a better, bigger team.
Although it’s pure speculation, I’d love the following lineup when Zajac is 100%;
Parise-Zajac-Kovy
Sykora-Elias-Zubie
Poni-Henrique-Clarky
(insert goon here)-Carter-Bernier
If goon is Zharkov im happy.
And Kovalchuk speeds away, great moves, busting through, DID YOU SEE THAT?
Time to forget the kid mate…

Bernier has to stay. Even if he plays on the 4th line he’s a massive upgrade over one of the goon brothers.
Ideally my lines would be
Parise-Henrique-Kovy
Sykora-Elias-Zubrus
Poni-Zajac-Clarkson
Bernier-Josefson-Foster/Palmieri (Foster is there as 7th d, although he shouldn’t be taking shifts on d)

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by what Bernier has brought. I think he’s the obvious leading candidate for demotion to the fourth line if the forward corps gets fully healthy, but Sykora’s got to score to justify his top-9 spot and he hasn’t been doing much of that lately.
No matter how you cut the lines, though, this team has 3 solid lines that can score when fully healthy, and can ice a pretty decent 4th line if PDB stays away from the goons.
