If you want to play hockey for a good cause (helping support NJ hockey), you should consider signing up for the Big Apple Pond Hockey classic. Also of note- Ken Danekyo will be there [Big Apple Pond Hockey]
The late Gary Carter, who was honored last night was a close friend of Martin Brodeur [Fire and Ice] (Tribute video can be found here, via Pro Hockey Talk)
And speaking of people close to Martin Brodeur, his father Denis had brain surgery last night. All the best wishes, Denis, and get well soon. [Fire and Ice]
Nick Palmieri learns about Fight Club from Eric Boulton and Cam Janssen. [Fire and Ice]
Anton Volchenkov taking a puck to the face and returning to the game showed that the Devils are tough [NJ.com]

There's more links after the jump (that's how many there are today!)

Get Dean Lombardi over to MSG, some coulombs need to be recalibrated [Puck Daddy]

Chris Pronger's post concussion syndrome seems horrendous [CSN Philly]
Signs you're not doing a good job of handing out discipline- fans of the suspended player's team are complaining that you didn't suspend the player long enough (Seriously though, he should've been suspended for more than one game) [Hockey Wilderness]

Carter Tribute
Here’s a pic of the #8 Carter jersey Montreal wore during warm ups yesterday
two articles from NYTimes.com
An article on Petr Sykora from NYTimes.com
Sykora Catches a Second Wind With the Devils
An article on Neal Broten & Lou Lamoriello and the 1995 NJ Devils from NYT’s Slap Shot blog, which is pretty far-ranging in what it covers… enough, so, that the article becomes a trade-speculation piece about the Rangers. It is a good blog though.
Burnside, of all people, points out this stat in this week’s Power Rankings:
The Devils haven’t given up more than 3 goals in a game in a month, not including shootout.
Impressive in its own right without Tallinder and Larsson for the most part, but really speaks to Marty’s play of late.

Ha that’s his research, not mine and since I’m on my phone I couldnt properly verify. Anyway Moose played that game so the point remains the same.

Kevin, is that an Archer reference with Steve Mason. If so, you continue to have good taste in shows.
It is. (I actually used that same reference when talking about Jimmy Howard fighting 3 Blues players before)
