Good game last night

We had a bit of luck but at this stage in the season we need all the points we can get.

Would anyone else prefer Phi or Pitt in the 1st round over Florida?
Florida have played really well against us so far this season.

I would have no problem with playing Pittsburgh as long as Crosby isn’t playing.

by Muskewitz on Feb 22, 2012 9:34 AM EST up reply actions

even without Crosby they’re going to be a tough team. I’d still face them over Florida- they might be the worst playoff team, but they’re a pain in the rear end to face, even without Garrison, Upshall and Kulikov. That and Clemmensen does well against us.

I’m very wary of Philthy.

If I could choose, I’d take the Penguins over the Flyers, but I think they could beat Florida in a 7 game series. The Panthers are the Penguins Light in my mind.

Watch out- Zac Rinaldo’s going to stir the pot at the Devils.

Philadelphia is one of two teams I do not want to see in the 1st round (Boston is the other). I simply don’t think the Devils match up particularly well against a team with that much firepower (the Flyers and Bruins are 1-2 in the League in scoring).

Pittsburgh and Florida is more-or-less a toss-up in my mind. I’d prefer to be the #4 seed if I had my druthers, even if that means not getting a crack at the SE champion — and I’m not convinced Florida will even make the playoffs at this juncture.

by acasser on Feb 22, 2012 10:18 AM EST up reply actions

Florida is certainly trying their best to not make the playoffs, but they may win by default as that division is just awful. TB is making a run of late, but they’re still 5 points out of first and Florida has a game in hand on them. Washington and Winnipeg seem to be trying even harder to not win the division.

We’ve been best against PIT so far at 3-1. 2-1-1 against FLA and 2-2 against PHL. I think it’s a toss up between FLA and PIT right now, but I think I’d rather avoid Philly.

The last two games against PIT and PHL could change my opinion though.

I would not mind playing Ottawa in the first round
the panthers have the Cinderella feel about them that might make them dangerous.

In order, and then some:

Yay! Win! Booo! Blew another lead in the third.
Yes, yes we did.
And we wouldn’t mind having you back, Poni.
Thank you.
That sounds nice, but the Post is the Post, and I shant believe it till the check clears.
The hit was not dirty, but it was very late and should have been called for interferance. I think the Ref was too worried about making the “dirty hit” call that he forgot about the Interferance.
The lead photo says it all.
I guess Gabs is 12 year old girl. Meh.

So…how much better does Philly get with Kubina? I’m looking elsewhere for my preferred first round matchup.

Something to add

E.J. Hradek was on with WFAN’s Joe and Evan yesterday around 11:45 (I was coming back from a delivery in Sandy Hook and had my radio on WFAN at the time). While the 15-minute interview didn’t really say anything we didn’t already know — it was heaviest on the Rangers and Blue Jackets — Hradek did take a moment or three to dwell on the Devils’ financial situation (bad) and his take on the odds of Parise re-signing in Jersey (better than they were in September, but still only 50/50 or so)…. and speculated that Parise and Ryan Suter might think about pulling a LeBron/Wade/Bosh situation and signing as a package deal somewhere.

How did Hradek justify such speculation? Do Parise and Suter have the same agent?

They’re very good friends and I believe in Zach’s Q&A thing that he did with Tom Gulitti, he mentioned Suter as the player he’d most like to play with, or something like that.

Something, Ive been wondering since last night….

In the fight with Clarkson, Phaneuf first turned down the fight twice, then threw the first punch with his visor down. Clarkson got the extra 2 since he came all the way across the ice and grabbed Phaneuf. But, couldn’t Phaneuf technically have gotten a penalty for starting a fight with his visor on?

I always thought that was against the rules (written or unwritten) of fighting. Especially if the other guy doesnt have a visor.

yes, he could have. But the Refs hate Toronto so they gave them the PP.

I guess.

I’m not going to comment on that Post article. Even when there “rumors” are brought to light – they still word things that make the Devils look like bums.

I’ve had enough of the Post and Josh Kosman.
