Adam Oates Named Washington Capitals Head Coach

I am aware this should be a fanshot, but I wanted to comment a bit.

Adam Oates has been named the Head Coach of the Washington Capitals, according to a report ... see here

I am a bit surprised that Washington named him coach, especially because Dale Hunter did a pretty good job motivating the Caps. Don't forget he took them within one win of the Eastern Conference Finals.

From a Devils perspective, it was tough to judge how effective Oates was because he did more than coach our powerplay (which was pretty good at some points during the postseason --- not against Los Angeles).

Oates only has been an assistant coach in the NHL for three years, and I can only wish him the best moving forward. He has a tough job motivating Alex Ovechkin, and I hope he does well.

Oh yeah, and don't forget Washington plays the Devils on opening night, October 12!
