The Albany Devils released their 2012-2013 promotional schedule last week and since the NHL lockout looks no closer to being resolved fans might be interested in what they have to offer. While some fans might be interested in the Dollar hot dogs and bobbleheads I want to focus on ticket discounts.

Opening Night Bundle: This first promotion the team has had going since the summer and offers tickets for opening night, 11/2 vs. Connecticut and choice of a third game of selected dates for $39. The first 5,000 fans on opening night will also get a magnet schedule.

For College students they offer $10 tickets on Friday nights throughout the season.

Deuces Wild Promotion: Last season they offered the same package for $30. (I added day of week, time and opponent)

The "Deuces Wild" promotion, including two tickets, two hats, two sodas, two popcorns and two vouchers for admission to a November game, is offered for the Oct. 26 (Friday 7pm vs. ADK) contest for only $35"

Family Four Pack: Last season they again offered similar packages with some good results at the gate.

New this season, the Devils have partnered with Papa John’s for the "Papa John’s Family Four Pack," which includes four tickets, four hats and a voucher for a free large pizza and cinnapie for just $52. The pack is available for games on Nov. 10 (Saturday 7pm vs. ADK), Dec. 15 (Saturday 7pm vs. Providence), Jan. 6 (Sunday 4pm vs. Binghamton), Mar. 10 (Sunday 3pm vs. ADK) and Apr. 21 (Sunday 3pm vs. ADK)…Also, the "Dunkin’ Donuts Family 4 Pack," consisting of four tickets, four hats and a $10 Dunkin’ Donuts gift card, is available for the Jan. 26 (Saturday 2pm vs. ADK) game for $52".

Cheap Nights Out: Last season the $5/$10 tickets worked very well for attendance.

"Fans can attend the Dec. 28 (Friday 7pm vs. Binghamton) contest for $10 with a special holiday ticket deal and the Jan. 26 (Saturday 2pm vs. ADK) game features $5 and $10 tickets for Time Warner Cable customers."

It is somewhat strange that they are offering $5/$10 tickets on 1/26 with the Dunkin Donuts family four pack promotion. Unless you really want Dunkin Donuts or those hats I don’t know why fans wouldn’t go for the cheaper tickets.

"GE Kids-In-Free (all children 12-and-under receive free admission) will take place on Jan. 14 (Saturday 5pm vs. Worcester) …Military Appreciation Night returns on Apr. 13 (Saturday 5pm vs. Binghamton); all active and past military personnel will receive free admission to the game. Additionally, the Nov. 12 (Monday 2pm vs. Norfolk) matinee on Veterans’ Day includes free tickets for all veterans."

The Veterans Day games includes a post-game autograph session, which combined with the possibilities of having Larsson, Henrique and Josefson could see a good amount of fans.

It is nice to see the Devils using what worked last year (Family Four Packs, Deuces Wild and Cheap ticket nights) and continuing to do them, even around the same times of year in some cases. Something to note is that every home ADK game has some type of discounted ticket attached to it.

My main criticism and other may feel this frustration as well, is that all of these promotions have made me abandon my normal 20 game flex package. This doesn't even include the Holdiday Hat Trick promotion that they have done the last two seasons. Why should I buy a flex package at an average of $15, when I can get to a good amount of games for less than that and get other things like hats, food, etc? The incentives for a 20 game package are not that special (other than the holiday skate with the team). Unless they lower the flex ticket costs or get better incentives they might be seeing other flex holders jump ship, especially when promotions are becoming more predictable.

What do you think of this year’s promotions? Did the Devils leave anything out that you would like to see? Any of these going to sway you to come to a certain game?
