This post serves as a place where readers can discuss the 2013 WJC Gold Medal Game between Sweden and the United States, which will have New Jersey Devils prospect Blake Pietila on the third line.
The Time: 8 AM EST
The Broadcast: NHL Network if you're in America. NHL.com has a livestream if you don't get the NHL-N.
The Matchup: United States vs. Sweden
The Prize: The Gold Medal in the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championships.
The Devil: New Jersey Devils prospect and Michigan Tech forward Blake Pietila is the Devils' lone representative at this tourney. Pietila has been a regular on USA's third line and penalty killing units and he's picked up two assists in six games. He's not out there for offense, though, so I wouldn't put too much stock into his meager point and shot (10) totals. That third unit of Pietila, Ryan Hartman, and Cole Bardreau has been utilized primarily as a checking line from what I've seen of this tournament. His role should be no surprise given Pietila's skillset and his usage through the USNTDP. They'll get a lot of work tonight against Sweden's depth.
A Preview: It's America-centric, but Chris Peters has a solid one at United States of Hockey.
It's been a while since we've had one these so let's get started. Since it's an international game, please feel free to discuss the game as it happens. Remember to keep comments clean, legal (no illegal streams, and again, there's a legal one out there), and relevant to this game. Of course, be excellent to each other.
