Get ready for another late night, folks!
The Time: 10:30 PM EST
The Broadcast: TV - MSG+; Radio - 660 AM & 101.9 FM WFAN
The Last Devils Game: The Devils first overtime win! The Ducks first loss at home! It was an exciting comeback win in Anaheim, but it was far from pretty. The first period was fairly even, but the Devils had a sloppy second period and found themselves behind 3-2. To finish the game, they outshot the Ducks 12-3 in the third period and Jagr found the back of the net with just over a minute left in the game to send it to overtime. The winning goal came after an incredible flurry of saves from Brodeur to keep the Devils alive. Travis Zajac was technically the overtime hero, although the goal went in off of a few Ducks before getting behind Hiller. The devils won 4-3 with goals from Zidlicky, Gelinas, Jagr, and Zajac.
You can read the full recap here, which you should because John stayed up late to write it and it's about a win, so we like it.
The Last Kings Game: The Kings last played on Tuesday in LA. They defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-2 giving another win to the impressive goaltender Ben Scrivens. Five different players scored for the Kings and they did so at even strength, on the power play, and short-handed. The goal scorers were Anze Kopitar, Matt Frattin, Justin Williams, Dwight King, and Dustin Brown.
The Last Devils vs. Kings Game: Cory Schneider was in net, and the Devils were shut out 2-0. Schneider put up a great fight in net stopping everything he could, but he didn't get any scoring support from his teammates. There were some major errors that lead to the single goal Schneider allowed followed by an empty netter to seal the win for LA. Here is the full recap from John.
The Goal: The Devils can't expect another lucky four-minute penalty or own goal to win it tonight. Coming off an exciting win, they need to come ready to play a strong team in Los Angeles. The Kings had last night off and the Devils are dealing with the second half of a back-to-back on the west coast - it's going to be tough.
Z-Z-Grandpops: The line of Dainius Zubrus, Travis Zajac and Jaromir Jagr has scored four goals and five assists in their last two games. They have been a powerhouse for the Devils lately and need to keep it up against the strong Kings. Their size and aggressive fore-check can exhaust a team's top lines, which is who they've been playing against the most. Jagr took a ride on the stationary bike after the win last night to tire himself out. He's weird, but if it works, I can't complain.
Power Play: The power play had moments where it didn't hurt to watch last night! They also had moments where you wanted to cringe. The Devils scored two power play goals and had a few other bright spots with a strong breakout or two, but it still needs a lot of work.
Energy: After an overtime game and being in a different time zone, the Devils will need to keep shifts a bit shorter and stay out of the penalty box to keep the energy up.
Rise to another tough task: The Kings are a good team and have had a lot of success against the Devils lately. Cory Schneider will be in net, so hopefully New Jersey can score a few goals for him so he can play his game and get the win he's deserved for a while now. On the other side, Ben Scrivens has been great lately and he hasn't been letting in many soft goals, so getting the puck on net will be huge. They can't have another period like the second last night with just three shots on goal.
Your Take: Do you think the Devils can get a win for Cory Schneider? What do they need to do to get a win in LA after a tough outing in Anaheim? Leave your answers and comments about the game tonight below. Thanks for reading.
