New Jersey Devils at New York Islanders: Game Preview #40

Brodeur will not make this save tonight; he's not playing. Schneider is. - Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

The Devils second to last game of 2013 will be held tonight, and it would be nice to exit 2013 with a win streak! This is a short preview of this game.

The Time: 7:00 PM EST

The Broadcast: TV - MSG+ 2; Radio - 660 AM & 101.9 FM WFAN

The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils (15-16-8) vs. the New York Islanders (11-20-7); SBN Blog: Lighthouse Hockey)

The Last Devils Game: The Devils hosted the Blue Jackets last night at the Prudential Center. Martin Brodeur started and it led to a 1-2 shootout loss for the Devils. If you couldn't catch the game last night, check out John's recap here.

The Last Islanders Game: The Islanders travelled to Detroit and left Islanders fans with nice Christmas present, a tidy 3-0 win. The Islanders saw scoring from Okposo, Grabner, and Cizkias as well as a solid effort by Evgeni Nabokov. You cn find a recap from the Islander's side of things over at Lighthouse Hockey.

The Last Devils-Islanders Game: The Islanders came to the Prudential Center on opening night back in October and handed the Devils a shootout loss. There were six shooters in the shootout and no one scored until Matt Moulson bested Brodeur to win the game 4-3. All in all, it was an early game in the season and neither team was particularly sharp.

The Goal: Win. The Devils need to put together a string of wins before the Olympic break in February. If they want to make the playoffs, hey need to be in a god position before the break in mid February. That all starts with a solid effort before the end of the year.

Starting Goalie: Cory Schneider will likely start in the second of the back to back as Brodeur started last night.

Your Take: What do you think the Devils need to do to win this game tonight? Will the Tavares line run wild on the Devils? Please leave your answers and other thoughts on tonight's game in the comments. Thank you for reading.
