Devils in the Details 12/28/12: Pietila Helped Edition

A gathering of a few Devils and hockey-related links for today, December 28, 2012.

Apologies for the delay, but here are a few New Jersey Devils and hockey-related stories to get you through the day.

Devils Links

First and foremost, Blake Pietila earned two assists in America's 8-0 bulldozing of Germany in the World Junior Championships. Here's the boxscore: [IIHF]

Second and nearly as important, Jon Merrill returned to practice with the Michigan ice hockey team. [Fire & Ice]

Third and not so important but still cool, two Martin Brodeur saves made Puck Daddy's Top 10 Saves of 2012. Amazingly, the scorpion kick entered at #10. [Puck Daddy]

Hockey Links

Yesterday, Kevin linked to a Tyler Dellow piece about a shortened NHL season. Triumph rebuts the notion of a season less than 48 games. [Driving Play]

Travis Hair is leaving Five for Howling after all these years. Thanks, Travis. Please keep throwing snakes. [Five for Howling]

Ellen Etchingham gets dark in this big-picture short essay about the fragility of playing the game at all. [Backhand Shelf]

Russia's Maxim Shulanov has been suspended for one game because he hit Tomas Nechala of Slovakia in the face with his stick. He will not play against Pietila and the U.S. today. [Buzzing the Net]

Please feel free to discuss any of these links as well as anything hockey related. Consider this your make-shift WJC discussion post. Thank you for reading.
