ILWT Reader Group Trip to Devils Away Game(s)
Each season I like to attend a few Devils away games with a couple of buddies. I've been to Boston and Long Island so far this season, and I'll be in Montreal with 6 others next weekend and for the fourth consecutive year in a row to see Marty put on a show in front of his “hometown” crowd. (Be sure to look/listen for us on TV, and also look to see if Gulitti makes mention in his blog/twitter of how loud/vocal [obnoxious] a group of Devils fans at the Bell Centre are.(We're 2 for 3 so far!))
Away games are always a great experience, and I'm sure a lot of you have already been to many of these games yourselves, and thus can probably attest to how much fun they are. But one thing I've found is that as great as the experience of attending these games can be, it's made even better when you're accompanied by more than a few other Devils fans. Basically, I think the saying of “the more the merrier” really applies for these types of games.
With that being said and without knowing if this has legitimately been tried/accomplished before, I wanted to create this FanShot to gauge ILWT reader interest in a group trip to see a Devils away game. So, if you've thought about this before or are interested in it at all, please post about your willingness and make some suggestions as to potential games you'd like to see us attend. The Devils schedule is linked to below for your convenience. I know I would really enjoy this trip and would consider it a success if we could get at least ~10 people to commit to attending. I have 2 friends who will come regardless of where we decide, so we're already starting at 3.
Before you post your suggestions, and to clear some things up personally, I just wanted to clarify that I don't see this trip being a major one. What I mean by this is that I'd like to keep our options open to an away game that would also allow us to complete the round-trip in the same day. I'm not against having it be longer or needing a hotel, I just think that this is my first attempt at this and it might be easier/more attractive to people if we attended a game in areas such as Washington, Philly, NYC, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Boston, Long Island, etc. But by all means, if you think the interest would be there and would like to suggest a trip of a larger scale, then feel free to post it.
So I'll shut up for now, and if you're interested please post your availability/suggestions below. Or, if you're an out of market Devils fan who would like to recommend your city and would enjoy being accompanied to an away game by a decent sized group, then feel free to post as well!
Will the Nets back in the Rock help the Devils?
I'm wondering with the end to the NBA lockout, does the Nets playing some games in the Rock help the arena, the NHA and more importantly, does it help the Devils or Vanderbeek at all?
My little chat with EJ Hradek
Basically, I tweeted EJ Hradek because he said that Letang was one of the top 5 D-men in the game, I responded with a tweet saying " No way, Crosby can make you look like that" and then he says - "Kovy, just worry about NOT turning the puck over on the power play." (because my name on twitter is comebackkovy) Then I responded with- that's a good one sir. Im sure you make 100 million in 15'years And he Direct messaged me again with - Kovy and I will have one thing in common: neither one of us will ever raise the Cup! I said well see about that and he once again responded with- well, he does have a much better chance. right now, we're tied in playoff wins, though Then I just said- when Larsson is older and new prospects are good, well see if they can be dominant... again And he responded by not being a negative nancy with- I've been impressed with several of their young players. looking forward to Zajac's return. i think he's an underrated player
Speculation: With Zajac Back, The Unofficial ILWT Reader Proposed Line Combos
He's not back just yet, but #19 is eyeing a return within the upcoming weeks. In the season prior to his injury, Zajac had surpassed Ken Daneyko and set the Devils ironman record for most consecutive games played. He's a great playmaking, defensively responsible center, and I'd imagine Chico would refer to him as "the peanut butter" to Parise's "jelly". Or something along those lines.. With that being said, how would you structure our forward combinations upon Zajac's return. It's certainly possible that variables may change before #19 laces up for a game, but given the season thus far and the players currently in the organization (try to also mind the salary cap), what would be the lines you'd try first if you were Lou/PDB?
Devils All Star Game Voting
I went onto the Devils website to vote for the ASG and the link would not work. Does anyone else get that same problem? I went to the flyers site and their link was working fine. (theorists start your engines) But if anyone knows how to get in touch with the Devils media they should know about this. Another lazy mistake done by Devils marketing and media.
Why The Devils Should Claim Sean Avery Off Waivers
Just kidding. But just imagine how great it would be if we had no worries about our salary cap for the rest of the season. Sign Avery, then ruin his career by making him a healthy scratch for the rest of the year. Sorry Fraser or Pelley, but we just can't risk him being picked up on waivers to the minors. He's just too valuable during practice because who else is better suited for Volchenkov to practice his hip check on?
