Clarkson's Agent on NJ's Offer

"We have no need to call (Lou). New Jersey is the one facing life without David, so that’s up to Lou to answer that question."

Briere to the Devils?

2

This was retweeted by TG a couple minutes ago; "Odds on Danny Briere's next team, according to Bovada: Devils 3-to-2, Senators 5/2, Canadiens 9/2, Sabres and Coyotes 5/1." I know Bovada is just a gambling site, but they do usually have some shred of truth to their odds. Briere probably doesn't want to move far with his kids and the Devils could use more scoring. For the right price, I'd be okay with the deal. Seeing as Kunitz, after a fantastic year, only got around 3.75 per, I'd say anywhere up to 3.5 for, at the absolute max, 3 years would be okay. He'd be 38 at the end of that deal and I think he can remain productive through that. What say you?

He [Parise] was asked twice about the potential for ever playing for the Rangers, the Devils' No. 1 rival and the team they beat in the Eastern Conference Finals, and both times emphatically responded "No," and added, "Don't try to get a headline out of it."

Dan Rosen reported at NHL.com that Zach Parise will not go to the Rangers. This certainly made me smile. Scratch one team off the list.

Tom Gulitti ‏@TGfireandice 8:11 pm It appears at this point that the Devils have decided to hold on to their 2012 first-round pick. Still waiting for official word. ________________________________________________ Tom Gulitti ‏@TGfireandice 8:43 pm Deadline has passed, Devils have not notified NHL they are giving up 2012 1st rd pick. So, they're not giving it up this year.

"I think we have the depth now up front with Bernier and Ponikarovsky and Henrique . . " - Pete DeBoer as quoted by Gulitti. How much do you Bernier contributes to that third line so far? And is he destined for the 4th line when Zajac comes back or Albany?

I didn't want to make a new FanPost, so I figured this would be okay. I just wanted to thank John and the crew for a great season and off season (so far). This is my first full year on ILWT, and this will be the first draft I watch knowing about different players, thanks to all the reviews. Great job and keep up the great work guys.

"The picks are not going determine that. You’re not going to just do this to get picks. Whatever decision is made is going to be made because you feel that you can do certain things and not hurt yourself. All you have to do is go back to the Marty Brodeur year. Those are decisions that you make and you don’t worry about what people think."

Lou Lamoriello tells Tom Gulitti why he wouldn't make a trade just to get a second round pick. In this quote, I've bolded what I think Lou's philosophy is on any kind of draft-day deals - regardless if picks are involved.

Thought the Coyotes had serious interest in Viktor Fasth, the soon-to-be 29-year-old Swedish goaltender who was MVP of the world championship. But it's hard to see them going with a combo of Fasth and Jason LaBarbera. More likely: they ask the Bruins about Tuukka Rask or the Canucks about Cory Schneider. Neither will come cheap.

CBC's Elliote Friedman I mainly posted this out of interest- Friedman mentions that Tuukka Rask, who was the Bruins starting goaltender coming into this season could be shopped. Rask is currently Tim Thomas' backup, and unless Thomas gets hurt, Rask will still be his backup. Considering that Marty's had injury problems and the Devils need a backup goalie and a potential goalie for the future. Rask could also give the Devils some time for Wedgewood, Kincaid and Clermont to develop.
