FanShot Quotes
I didn't want to make a new FanPost, so I figured this would be okay. I just wanted to thank John and the crew for a great season and off season (so far). This is my first full year on ILWT, and this will be the first draft I watch knowing about different players, thanks to all the reviews. Great job and keep up the great work guys.
Devils have filed for club-elected arbitration with Zach Parise, Lou Lamoriello confirms.

"The picks are not going determine that. You’re not going to just do this to get picks. Whatever decision is made is going to be made because you feel that you can do certain things and not hurt yourself. All you have to do is go back to the Marty Brodeur year. Those are decisions that you make and you don’t worry about what people think."
Lou Lamoriello tells Tom Gulitti why he wouldn't make a trade just to get a second round pick. In this quote, I've bolded what I think Lou's philosophy is on any kind of draft-day deals - regardless if picks are involved.
Thought the Coyotes had serious interest in Viktor Fasth, the soon-to-be 29-year-old Swedish goaltender who was MVP of the world championship. But it's hard to see them going with a combo of Fasth and Jason LaBarbera. More likely: they ask the Bruins about Tuukka Rask or the Canucks about Cory Schneider. Neither will come cheap.
I mainly posted this out of interest- Friedman mentions that Tuukka Rask, who was the Bruins starting goaltender coming into this season could be shopped. Rask is currently Tim Thomas' backup, and unless Thomas gets hurt, Rask will still be his backup. Considering that Marty's had injury problems and the Devils need a backup goalie and a potential goalie for the future. Rask could also give the Devils some time for Wedgewood, Kincaid and Clermont to develop.
So I talked to person at the Devils that I initially set this up with and he loved what we did at the game and they want to do it again, with possibly a lower section(i assume the 100s behind the goals cause some of those sections are completely empty)
Just waiting for a phone call back from another person at the Devils now because they will be the ones helping setup whenever the next game is.
Update: January 9th, 5 PM EST, vs. Tampa Bay, Section 107, $20 seats.

"I think the players love when they play only three lines. They know their line is up every third shift and I think if you ask most players I think secretly they prefer they have three lines."
-- Sabres coach Lindy Ruff, winning today's prize for 'most reasonable assessment of the Devils' playing short-handed due to injuries and cap issues.'
"We were today advised of the ruling by the Commissioner with respect to the Kovalchuk matter. We disagree with the decision. We acted in good faith and did nothing wrong. We will have no further comment." - Lou Lamoriello

"I can tell you that during bargaining, that the league was not successful in negotiating rules to limit the length of contract a player can sign with a club,"
Ian Pulver, player agent and NHL CBA author, as reported by Michael Traikos of the National Post Pulver reveals that the NHL did try to add contract term limits into the CBA but failed. Meaning: there are none.
Sources confirmed to ESPN.com yet again Saturday that the Kings will make an offer to the prized jewel of a thin market, star winger Ilya Kovalchuk. They tried to acquire his rights this weekend from New Jersey, but were denied since the Devils remain interested in trying to re-sign the Russian star.
