Hockey's Future 2009 Devils Draft Review

3

I found this from their Twitter - follow HockeysFuture for that. I know the focus is now on free agency and such, but this is a very good overview of who the Devils drafted. Plus, it has actual information how Derek Rodwell and Curtis Gedig actually play hockey. I couldn't find anything on them at the time of my overview, so for that alone you should check it out.

Puck Prospectus: Devils Second Best Drafting Team since 1994

3

I found this link through the Devils forum on HF Boards. It ties in nicely with what I put up over the weekend, that the Devils are the second best team overall in the NHL in the last 15 years. After all, you need to draft plenty of talented players to remain a consistent contender in the NHL. Tom Awad uses a metric called GVT to determine who has been the most successful at drafting in the last 15 years. Awad expected the Devils in first, but I think those "lean" years from 1999 through 2002 hold the Devils back. I think you'll be surprised who he found was first!

Hockey's Future Devils Draft Preview

+

This is much more than a draft preview, really. Jared Ramsden breaks down the Devils current and prospect needs as well what is solid in the organization. Incidentally, Ramsden has a section on draft tendencies and, based on what I found, I can confirm the Devils have drafted more prospects out of the CHL than anywhere else. In any case, this is a solid preview and I can agree with his selection at the Devils' mock draft. Maybe I'll get a chance to select him in the SBN Mock Draft?
