Tomorrow's 10 AM Scrimmage is Open to the Public

First saw this at Gulitti's Fire & Ice, confirmed by the official site. Tomorrow's scrimmage - the last of the prospect development camp - is open to the public and free. But seating is limited at the AmeriHealth Pavillion, so first come, first serve applies. Scrimmage is at 10 AM, so I hope to get in and check out the event. Maybe Tedenby will continue scoring goals, as he scored 4 in today's scrimmage, per Gulitti.

Must-Read: Gulitti's Thoughts on Brent Sutter's Departure

Gulitti has been on top of the Devils' coaching situation, reporting today that Peter Laviolette isn't in the running and following up on Jacques Lemaire and Kevin Dineen. But Gulitti put together this well thought out post about the departure of Brent Sutter. It's a must-read. It's level headed, it's got insight via hindsight coupled with perspective. If you were to ask me to point to a definitive analysis of what happened, this is what I would link to you. And if you want some red meat after reading that, there's this article from "The Maven" Stan Fischler at Max Hockey. I can't say I disagree with his central thesis. (H/T Devils HF Board, warning: article auto-plays Calgary's coaching annoucement.)

Gulitti Reviews the Devils' Head Coaching Options

The day is not even over and Gulitti has a fairly complete and pithy overview of all the potential candidates for the Devils' head coaching position. It includes former head coaches Jacques Lemaire, Peter Laviolette, and Guy Carbonneau; head coaches who have been in the NHL but not recently like Marc Crawford and Bob Hartley; and assistant coaches who could make the leap like John MacLean, Paul MacLean, and Todd Richards. It's worth the time of any Devils fan interested in the process. He also dismisses Mike Keenan right away which is a plus. Thanks to dsarch for the heads up via Twitter. (Follow me here.)

Gulitti: PLLL Signs 3 Year Deal, Vrana Confirmed to be Czech-Bound

Gulitti has some Devils news and the first signing of the Devils' offseason! Restricted free agent and enforcer/energy left wing Pierre-Luc Latourneau-Leblond has been re-signed to a three year deal, averaging $525,000. I think Mike Rupp's future in New Jersey just got bleaker. Also, Lou confirmed that Vrana is indeed signing with the Czech league and he was...sympathetic. He even told Gulitti that the Devils does keep his rights and that it wouldn't be such a bad thing if Vrana went abroad. I have my doubts, but if Lou is betting on Vrana wanting a return trip to the NHL, well, I wouldn't be surprised if that happens a year or so from now.
