Next Stop for Jersey Tour: Hoboken - August 5

The link takes you to the official web site's story about the Monmouth part of the Jersey Tour. I'm highlighting it to confirm that the next stop is in Hoboken for Hudson County-based fans. I believe invites already went out, so either A) you already know this or B) you know this now but there may not be any room left. Here's a link to the Hoboken Bar & Grill complete with annoying auto-playing music that can be shut off and, more importantly, directions and parking information. In the meantime, please use the comments to discuss what you'd ask to Jeff Vanderbeek. If/when I learn where the third stop will be, I'll pass that along.

Mark Everson Report: Kovy to Devs for 7 years/60 mill

Mark Everson is not my favorite Devils reporter but he isn't Eklund. He floated this out there today from what one "source" of his has suggested. Looks like Pierre LeBrun is also getting in on this. Also a very interesting tweet from Larry Brooks. If true, Marty seems very happy. Editor's Note: I'm front paging this for all Kovalchuk related discussion. I'm not saying anything unless it's official. Editor's Note Pt. 2: Jay Grossman says nothing's happening today. Lesson: Don't always buy into speculation, or at least not from Everson.

Copper & Blue Identifies Who May Be Prone to Offer Sheets

You want a "think outside the box" idea for the New Jersey Devils offseason? How about dual offer sheets? After the draft, compensation would be for 2011 picks. The Devils have plenty of those. So why not use them try to snag Sam Gagner from Edmonton, or be truly devilish and pull a dual offer sheet for Marc Girardi and Marc Staal from the Rangers? It's not like Lou will be trading with the Rangers anytime soon or that the Oilers can hit back with an offer sheet in the near future. Will Lou do something like this? Probably not, but it's something to think about. Come up with your own in the comments.

TSN: Dennis Seidenberg signed 4 year, $13 million contract extension with Boston

If you wanted Dennis Seidenberg as a New Jersey Devil, then I'm sorry to say it's not happening. He signed with Boston and will be a Bruin for a good while longer. The cap hit will be $3.25 million/year; keep that in mind for future defensemen signings.

Cory Murphy transferred to Zurich Lions

The ZSC Lions website has announced that Cory Murphy has signed with the Swiss team for 2 years. At least, that's what I understand from this Google translation of the original article. Murphy was a low-risk signing last summer, trying to add some offense to a blueline that lacked it. Murphy started off in New Jersey but couldn't stick around; yet he had a good and productive season down in Lowell with 6 goals and 38 assists in 64 games. I don't know if the Devils still have his rights though. He won't be going to Albany with the AHL team, but to Europe, and I wish him the best of luck. (Hat-tip: Matsku on Twitter for initial news, confirmed via Zurich site)

CapGeek: Eric Gelinas signed to 3 Year Entry Level Deal with Devils

CapGeek has been informed that 2009 second round draft pick Eric Gelinas has been signed to a 3 year Entry Level Deal. It's a two-way deal, with a NHL cap hit of $690k should he make it to New Jersey. Gelinas finished his season with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens in the QMJHL. UPDATE: Thanks to LangsForPres in the comments, the official website reports that the Devils signed overage Kitchener Rangers defenseman Dan Kelly as well. No word yet from CapGeek on the contract, but I would think Kelly will ply his trade in the minors first since he can't go back to the OHL.
