The New Jersey Devils made a few important signings: Henrik Tallinder, Anton Volchenkov, and Johan Hedberg. I have plenty of thoughts and questions about the signings; I doubt that the Devils got better overall, but perhaps I am wrong.

The Devils have signed Henrik Tallinder for 4 years at $13.5 million ($3.375/yr). The former Sabres defender will surely bulk the Devils defense.

In light of the beginning of this summer's free agency period for the NHL, I've created this open thread. It includes a summary of the New Jersey Devils' recent roster moves, an updated salary cap space value, and a cautionary note about UFAs.
