While most Devils fans are asking, "Will the NHL approve New Jersey's contract with Ilya Kovalchuk?;" I am asking, "When will Mike Mottau get signed by a NHL team?" This post explains that Mottau can provide quite a bit for not a lot of cash.
In continuing to analyze unrestricted free agent centers for the New Jersey Devils, the 23 centers are examined by their on-ice and on-ice impact at even strength from this past season.
I make the argument that Ilya Kovalchuk should not be re-signed because of how much money he'll command, how he'll be top left wing on a team with two of them, and, most of all, how Zach Parise is more important and complete of a player to the New Jersey Devils.
