As Martin Brodeur gets older, he becomes part of a small group of goaltenders to play beyond the age of 38. I look at how big that group is and start to temper expectations for Brodeur in this coming season from it.
Training camp is about to begin for the New Jersey Devils this week. I take the time to explain what the important questions the team needs to answer in this camp and highlight the various battles for roster spots that will take place this year.
Related to an earlier post about under-20 year old defensemen, I find that Jacob Josefson is the most recent young forward to appear for the Devils, the first since 1995-96, and one of a few hundred out of thousands in NHL history.
With training camp approaching, many fans are hoping Adam Larsson can make it onto the New Jersey Devils roster. Looking through Hockey-Reference, that would make Larsson a rare defenseman in Devils and NHL history.
While it's quite sometime before training camp begins, I take a look at Rod Pelley, a player I feel is on the bubble in NJ. Based on what he did last season and the Devils' moves in this offseason, I don't believe his spot in the lineup for 11-12 is guaranteed at all.
