"Whoever comes in, it'll be a different situation for me altogether. The fact of the matter with me is I didn't get a fair shake last year at all as far as I'm concerned. Anybody who comes in will be a welcome change for me."

Brian Rolston tells Rich Chere how he really felt about how Brent Sutter used him. Read on and see Rolston make a case for Jacques Lemaire. (Speaking of, vote on whether you want him coaching the Devils here.) Rolston does have a point as he spent most of last season out of the team's top 6 forwards. Of course, now he has to step up or this quote will come back to haunt him.

"Lou and I have had some good discussions this weekend," Sutter said. "I don't want to say any more than that right now. There will be a decision here very soon."

Chere has an update from Brent Sutter about his decision. Chere is starting to express doubts, but he has this interesting angle. His junior team, the Red Deer Rebels could make the difference. Sutter does own them and they've been awful in the last two seasons. I'm doubtful on that, personally. Lou would have dumped him if Sutter was really thinking Red Deer is going to cause him to leave a NHL position in New Jersey. I feel he will still fill out his contract at a minimum.

"Right now I’m the best (candidate)," Sutter said during a news conference Tuesday afternoon. "All the best coaches in the league are under contract. I think there are three guys (in that group) who are excellent. I won’t tell you who they are. And I’m fourth."

As reported by the NHL, GM Darryl Sutter makes a statement at a news conference regarding the coaching situation in Calgary. The statement: Hey, why not me? Why not Darryl? It's more feasible than Brent at this point!

"These are the mistakes that you talk about all year and you can get away with it at certain times," Sutter said. "You might get away with it at the 30, 40, 50-game mark. Like I was telling the guys, 'You're not going to get away with it in March and April. And if you keep doing it, you won't see May. It's pretty simple."

Brent Sutter states that the mistakes are becoming costly, per Gulitti. Does that mean they'll learn from them for Monday?

"I'm annoyed. I'm not worried, I'm annoyed to see us playing like this when we're a better team than this on the road. At home, we've been fine. It's just our habits on the road. We've got to get that same attitude back on the road that we have at home. We had it before these last nine games, Outside of the Montreal game (a 3-1 win on March 14), which we were pretty darn good in, we've been pretty erratic on the road. It's the specialty teams. You can shake it and bake it all you want. Our specialty teams haven't done the job for us in the last little bit."

Brent Sutter is annoyed at the team's road performances, according to Gulitti. Perhaps Sutter will, you know, do something about it now that this is the second time he brought this up in as many nights.

"I'm not happy with it," Devils coach Brent Sutter said. "You can't have three wins out of eight on...

"I'm not happy with it," Devils coach Brent Sutter said. "You can't have three wins out of eight on the road and think you're satisfied with it. I'm not. We've got to be a better road team. We have to start finding ways to win. It's not like we haven't played well on the road. It's just that there's little things that we don't do home that end up costing us. Specialty teams is one. They have to be better on the road for us."

Brent Sutter tells the press how unhappy he is with the road performances, per Gulitti. I can't imagine Sutter didn't make this a major point of his postgame speech to his team. I don't think the Devils will be dragging their feet in Philly tomorrow.

"But my mindset as a coach is I'm not going there thinking about the next night. I'm going there...

"But my mindset as a coach is I'm not going there thinking about the next night. I'm going there thinking about one thing and that's to win this game. And when that's over, we'll start getting up for the next one,"

According to Gulitti, Brent Sutter explains why he's looking for the win today regardless of who the Devils play tomorrow.

" Yeah, of course. I'm pretty ticked off. It's a tough loss. I didn't want to lose here. We wanted...

" Yeah, of course. I'm pretty ticked off. It's a tough loss. I didn't want to lose here. We wanted to keep our thing rolling. I take the game seriously, so I'm pretty disappointed about the loss."

Kevin Weekes is understandably not happy with tonight's 4-2 loss to Carolina, according to Rich Chere. In fairness, Brent Sutter felt Weekes did "OK." That's true. The team as whole, not so much.

"That came out of left field to me me," Sutter said of a story in New York newspaper that he is...

"That came out of left field to me me," Sutter said of a story in New York newspaper that he is thinking about walking away after this season. "My response is the same as I said last time. No response. I don't know where that came from, to be quite honest."

Chere's reporting on a rumor of Sutter's leaving. A NY paper, eh? I wonder who that could be!
