Tom Gulitti heard from Zach Parise today and got some bad news. Parise's doctor has recommended that he stay away from skating until he's re-examined in March. Depending on how that goes, that could keep him out for the rest of the season. Personally, if this means the knee heals properly, then I'm fine with it. If it's a lost season, then there's no reason to rush Parise back with nothing to play for.

Tom Gulitti reports big news. Rolston will need surgery for a sports hernia. He will be out for 4-6 weeks and will go on long term injured reserve. The Devils will still play with 16 tonight, but will make roster decisions tomorrow. Yes, this only buys the Devils time, but Rolston on LTIR will free up more than enough space to replace all of the missing spots on the roster and give them a long time before having to make a permanent move.

I'm guessing it's a concussion though no one wants to admit it. Editor's Note: You're sort of right. The word is concussion symptoms, according to Lou as reported by Gulitti. Not the same thing, but the Devils are wise to play it safe all the same. Patrick Davis and Nick Palmieri have been called up in the meantime.

While there's no news yet on Bryce Salvador's injury, Corrente has been called up and is now on the active roster. To make room, Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond is on IR with, as Gulitti puts with it, "a mysterious upper body injury." I suppose this explains why Leblond hasn't been seeing the ice.
