"The picks are not going determine that. You’re not going to just do this to get picks. Whatever decision is made is going to be made because you feel that you can do certain things and not hurt yourself. All you have to do is go back to the Marty Brodeur year. Those are decisions that you make and you don’t worry about what people think."

Lou Lamoriello tells Tom Gulitti why he wouldn't make a trade just to get a second round pick. In this quote, I've bolded what I think Lou's philosophy is on any kind of draft-day deals - regardless if picks are involved.

"We had a couple of beers and just hung out," Brodeur said, downplaying it. "Celebrating these things…I'm not done playing the game so there will be more."

Martin Brodeur comments on how he celebrated his 104th shutout, as written by NHL.com's Dan Rosen. (P.S. Article has links to excellent NHL.com articles related to the achievement, like this one.) I absolutely love the last part - I had to bold it. Speaking of Brodeur #104 pieces, I absolutely loved Greg Wyshynski's post on the record at Puck Daddy. I know Tibbs linked it, but it's a must-read, so there it is again.

I ride the stationary bike a lot, so that's something that I don't mind doing. I workout with a personal trainer four times a week, plus my own cardio workout on top of that. So that's what I do to stay in shape, and I play a lot of golf which keeps me out of trouble

Martin Brodeur answers a question from a fan about how stays in shape in the offseason. For some reason, I think Puck Daddy may need to find some new material with respect to Brodeur. But seriously, the Devils' official website did have Brodeur answer questions from fans, similar to what they did with Jacques Lemaire last week. I don't know who will be next, but until then, check that out.

"It's been a great ride for me," Brodeur said in his speech in the Senate. New Jersey is my home. It's where my kids were born and go to school. New Jersey is everything, the Devils are everything for me. I'm just glad to be a part of it. We wear our jersey with the New Jersey logo all over the United States and Canada to represent all of you guys."

Tom Gulitti quotes Brodeur from the official honors given at the NJ State Assembly earlier this afternoon. Chere also reported on the event with more quotes of support from state senators. Including the mispronunciations of names by Assemblyman Frederick Scalera. UPDATE: Chere's post now has the benefit of VIDEO.

"In the playoffs, it’s important to be composed and I think we got out of the funk that we were in and we did a good job and we all did it together. It wasn’t one guy that took us out of the hole we were in. Everybody chipped in and now we’re looking forward."

Martin Brodeur after the game discusses' the team's feeling via Gulitti. They aren't looking at a particular opponent. If you are and you're hoping it's Pittsburgh, then I suggest cheering on Montreal tonight. If you haven't yet, submit your thoughts on who you'd like to see (even though Philly is not possible).

"It was a pleasure to meet Patrick this morning," Brodeur said at his press conference this morning at the arena. "Not meet him, but talk to him a little bit. I've met him before. He just wanted to say, 'Hi' and wish me, 'good luck' on tonight's game. It was pretty nice of him. He's on a busy schedule coaching a junior team. It's not easy for him to get around. So, he came by this morning."

Gulitti has the word from Brodeur from a press conference about the game. Yeah, a press conference. It's a big deal!

"Everything happens for a reason. I wanted this behind me now and not to deal with it (this late in the season), but I'm just happy that I'm feeling good and I'm back playing and I have this opportunity on Saturday."

Gulitti has this quote from Martin Brodeur about the upcoming record. Brodeur has a ton more to say, so do check out Gulitti's blog. He (and Sutter) says the focus will be kept. Let's hope so!

"The elbow was great. Even playing the puck I didn't feel anything."

"The elbow was great. Even playing the puck I didn't feel anything."

Via Chere, Brodeur answers a question about his elbow. Again, I repeat: he's back.

"They know that I'm ready to go," he [Brodeur] said. "I told them a few days ago. I kind of got sick. I wasn't supposed to play on (Long) Island anyway. I think it was good to take some time off too just to get me back. I told them I'm ready and it's up to them to look at me and feel comfortable. That's the bottom line. They have to feel comfortable having me there."

Martin Brodeur says he's ready, according to Gulitti. Will Brent and Lou agree?

"I'm getting back in the swing of things. It's a matter of a week of a week or maybe more, 10 days, that I'll probably back and I just want to get back in the rhythm also."

One of the many great quotes from Martin Brodeur in Gulitti's un-cut interview with the legendary goalkeeper. This one is about when Brodeur thinks he'll be ready to play in a game. It's a must-read.
