October 23: Hockey Fights Cancer Night at the Rock

1

The New Jersey Devils wanted me to pass along the news that this Saturday's game against Buffalo will be Hockey Fights Cancer Night at the Rock. The link has the details, but here are the highlights: The Devils along with the NHL will provide $10,000 to the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Foundation They are running the Mystery Puck promotion again. It starts at 5:30, with the proceeds going to charity. Pucks are limited to one a person, they are with $20, and each puck will be autographed by a random Devil. If you miss out on the pucks but want to contribute, you can make a cash donation at the door. You'll not just be enjoying Devils hockey on Saturday, but you can do some good too.

The Devils Viewing Party - 11/19/09 7:30 PM, Black Bear Bar in Hoboken

2

The Devils marketing initiatives continue! Yes, the team will be having an official watch party at Black Bear Bar in Hoboken for all Devils fans 21 years old or over. See the link for details on what will be going down. I'm told there will be giveaways, discounted drinks (seriously), and even a Tweetup (RSVP for that here). I've been to a few watch parties for soccer games and while I don't partake of spirits, watching a team you support with others is a good way to meet fellow fans and have a very good time. I won't be able to make it to this one, but if you can go, do so and cheer on the Devils against Nashville. I hope Thursday's party will be a success, so there can be more viewing parties for road games in the future (like games on Versus, hint hint).

Official Devils Tweet: Tweet for Free Devils Tickets Tomorrow

+
The full rules for the contest is at the official Devils website. Incidentally, they may consider shortening the initial message for tomorrow; but you must still re-tweet back a message to win two free tickets to the Devils' season opener between 12 AM and 8 PM EST tomorrow. Not today, but tomorrow. 5 winners will be chosen and one of them could be you. So tomorrow, get to tweeting if you want free tickets.

Devils to do Mystery Pucks right this time

+

The last time the Devils lost at home was to the LA Kings on January 7, which featured a mystery puck promotion. It wasn't well organized and a lot of people were left unhappy by it. The Devils are giving this another go on April 3 and this time they have some sensible rules in place: One puck per person, the puck must be bought before being selected, and it'll be held at the Verizon Tower. If the crowd is better controlled, this will make up for the first time they've attempted this.
