Those wacky Canadians are at it again! I just stumbled across this article over at Deadspin. Apparently the people of Quebec are so hell bent on getting an NHL team back that the government is just trying to make the illegal things they've done to lure a team there retroactively legal. You have to love their passion, but I'm not sure wholesale government corruption is a good way to prove that you are a viable NHL city.
Canada needs to grow up for once, seriously. Not doing much to quash stereotypes when people are getting thrown out of political parties over naming rights to a hockey arena. I mean, why can't they act like a real country and just have some good, old-fashioned government sex scandals like everyone else. Now, maybe I'm being unfair lumping the rest of Canada in with Quebec, but I'm pretty sure we here in the States still have to count Utah as a legitimate place, so I don't want to hear it.
All kidding aside, I really don't think Quebec City is doing itself any favors here by acting like a bunch of lunatics. Maybe I'm wrong, though, and the NHL will admire their spirit and willingness to forgo the basic ethics involved with running a government as long as it involves a professional hockey team. Thoughts? Feelings? Sound off below.
