One of the rising issues after the Ilya Kovalchuk signing saga is whether he will be worth all of the assets the Devils traded and lost this year for him. I argue that he already is worth more than the traded players and the picks lost by virtue of his talents and that the Devils would not be better off without him right now.

The NHL, along with the NHLPA, has decided to not make a decision on Ilya Kovalchuk's contract at all - extending it to Friday. I ask difficult questions

Tomorrow, we will finally find out if the NHL is OK with the second Ilya Kovalchuk contract. I think it should be no issue based on the released details of the deal; and I offer additional thoughts about the hold up and the frustration in this post.
