Lou Lamoriello spoke to the press this afternoon and stated that Ilya Kovalchuk will be out for 2-4 weeks with a shoulder injury. This reaction post explains why Kovalchuk will be missed and that it'll take a team effort to try to fill his role.

According to Rich Chere's article featuring Zach Parise, Parise says that Travis Zajac told him he'll be out for 4-6 months - much more time than the 3 months originally reported in late August. I offer my take on this information in this post.
